Procedures

A SYSTOC procedure is a tool for grouping tasks and standardizing your services. You should create a procedure for every "reason to visit." For example, no one would visit just to have their vitals taken, but someone might visit just to have an audiogram: you need an audio procedure but not a vitals procedure.

Each task in a procedure becomes a separate patient order when that procedure is selected for a patient visit. Tasks attached to procedures are built from task prototypes: they include all the components of the task as they were defined in the prototype (even though not all those components are visible on screen), but have some additional information (discounts and billing address).

Before creating procedures, build the task prototypes. Then create generic procedures for use with the public or companies that do not make special requests, and attach appropriate tasks. The generic procedures can be copied and modified for company-specific procedures.
Note: When you create a new procedure, remember to add at least one task.
