Determine Current TB Status

  1. Run the TB Activity report to determine if all employees subject to monitoring have been tested.
  2. If the patient has risk factors that might make an otherwise normal result positive (HIV, close contact with active TB patient, foreign-born recently arrived, etc.), create an Allergies/Conditions record of TBFACTOR. In the memo, list the particular risk or type “see chart” if confidential.
  3. Determine whether monitoring will be with skin testing or blood testing. If the patient had a prior BCG or has a history of severe reactions to TST and your clinic has the ability to use blood testing, jump to Blood Assay for Mycobacterium Tuberculosis (BAMT). If the patient has a prior positive TST, BAMT or active TB, jump to Positive Follow-up.
