Using a Signature Capture Device

The following steps outline the procedure for creating and saving a signature using a Topaz signature pad.

  1. Log into SYSTOC on a workstation that has a signature capture device installed.
  2. Launch the signature device by double clicking the desktop shortcut. This displays the SigTool Imager Plus Signature Capture window.
  3. Click the Settings button at the bottom of the screen to display the options available for capturing the signature.
  4. Select a File Format (the default .bmp format works well, but you can choose .jpg or .tif if desired).
  5. Select a value for the Ink option. A value between 15 and 20 generally works well, but it can be changed after signing if necessary.
  6. Click the Sign button and sign your name on the signature pad. As you sign, your signature displays in the capture window.
    • If you are not satisfied with the signature, click the Clear button and try again.
    • If the signature is acceptable, click the File Path button to browse to the folder to save the signature file. This should be a secure network folder.
  7. Enter a File name in the appropriate field.
  8. Click Save to save the file path and file name and to close the Save As window.
Note: This does not save the signature file.
  9. Click the Create Image button.
  10. Close the Signature Capture window.
  11. Import the signature(s) into SYSTOC (see Importing an Image).
