External Encounters
This section is used for external system encounter numbers for use in specific SYSTOC HL7 Exchange outbound messages.
The external system encounter number is used in outbound HL7 Continuity of Care Records, Document Interface, Drug Test, Lab, and Radiology messages to link SYSTOC data and an external software system to provide a one-to-one patient match. The encounter number, SYSTOC Patient ID, and encounter date must all be present to be included in the outgoing message. The encounter number is imported (when included in the inbound ADT message), if you have licensed the HL7 ADT Interface. See SYSTOC HL7 Exchange .

Encounter # |
This required field holds the external encounter number. You can type the encounter number on this screen. Saving it here updates the Appointment Register screen if you are in the process of adding an appointment. Go to to change a previously entered encounter number that was incorrect. Note: Each alphanumeric encounter ID must be unique, with a maximum length of 25
characters.

Date |
This required field holds the encounter date. Click the drop-down arrow to search by date. |

Patient ID |
This required field holds the SYSTOC Patient ID. You can use the lookup to search for the Encounter number by Patient ID. |

Description |
You can type a description of the encounter in this text box, with a maximum length of 50 characters. A description is not required, but is recommended to identify the type of encounter. |
