Using Authorizations
When a patient arrives for a subsequent treatment for the injury and you
change the Status to
T, a window appears
with a list of applicable authorizations. Authorization types are listed in the
following order:
- A: Active (including expired)
- P: Pending
- I: Inactive
To apply an authorization from the list, click on the first line to select the active authorization that has visits remaining, then click Apply to Treatment. You can select a pending authorization, but you should immediately follow up to resolve the status issue. If you select Cancel, no authorization is applied.
Authorizations are color-coded as shown below.
Color | Description | Use |
---|---|---|
Black (bold) | Active | Use for any applicable treatment |
Red (bold) | Active but expired | Can still be applied to treatments that occurred in the date range. |
Blue | Pending | Can be applied to treatments, but be sure the authorization becomes active before billing those treatments. |
Gray | Inactive | Cannot be applied to treatments anymore. |
