Audiogram Analysis

SYSTOC displays important information about the audiogram, including what analysis, if any, has occurred, in the Right Ear and Left Ear Analysis portion of the Audiology screen.

Note: If the company preference is to reset the STS baseline after a hearing loss is detected, a message informing you that a threshold shift has occurred will display and you will be asked if you want to move the baseline. If the company preference is not to reset the baseline when a shift occurs, you will see no special warning when a hearing loss is detected, but you will be notified of the shift with a message in the Analysis Message field.
Label Description
Analysis Message field The top field in the Right Ear and Left Ear Analysis sections provides important information regarding the result of the selected test, such as Initial exam, No Shift Detected, STS Shift occurred, etc., and the date of the relevant baseline test. If the audiogram record has been altered, the message will indicate what was changed and the message will display in red.
OSHA Reportable If checked, SYSTOC has calculated that the hearing loss in this ear is reportable to OSHA (see Reporting Requirements and Baselines). The automatic selection may be manually altered if the reviewer disagrees. If the option is inactive (grayed out) because it was previously altered, press Reanalyze to undo the previous change first. If the hearing loss is work related, it should be documented on the employer’s OSHA 300 log. You must create an injury to record the event if you wish to print the OSHA 300 from SYSTOC.
STS Ref Baseline If checked, this audiogram is the baseline against which future audiograms are compared to determine a Standard Threshold Shift for this ear. An employee’s first exam at a company is normally the initial STS reference baseline. However, if an employee leaves a company and then returns, the first exam after the return should be manually marked as the baseline. If a company changes ownership, the new owner must honor the previous data.
Threshold Shift If checked, a Standard Threshold Shift hearing loss has been detected for this ear.
Age Corrected A two-part field that indicates with a check if the results of the audiogram have been corrected for age, and if so, the correction values used in the calculation. The calculation uses the difference between the average (2k, 3k, and 4k) age correction allowed for the present test and the average age correction for the baseline test. A table showing the values used to compute the age correction applied to the audiogram can be displayed by clicking the adjacent button.
Baseline Ref Indicators Each (analyzed) ear will have a selection mark in front of one of three options to indicate: Not STS Baseline Reference Exam, Initial STS Baseline Reference Exam, STS Baseline Reference Exam. The automatic selection may be manually altered at the discretion of the audiologist. If the options are inactive (grayed out) because they have been altered previously, you must press Reanalyze to undo the previous change and return the record to its initial analysis state before you are permitted to make a subsequent modification.
Reanalyze (button) Press this button to reanalyze a record. Note that this will undo any prior manual analysis of the record. The date the record was reanalyzed will become the Analyzed Date. See Reanalyze Audiogram for more information.
Audio Reanalyze Turned Off If checked, SYSTOC has detected a conflict that prohibits it from re-analyzing this patient’s records, such as the exam date is earlier than 2003 and/or the record has undergone manual analysis.
Data invalid or not used If this box is checked, the record will be ignored for the purpose of audiogram analysis, but may still print on reports. Under some circumstances, such as a recheck exam invalidating a previous test, SYSTOC will mark a record invalid. Any record can be marked invalid at the discretion of the audiologist.
