Gordian HRA

The Gordian HRA (Health Risk Analysis) was developed as a tool for wellness and health education. It works by assessing an individual’s risk factors and comparing them to national mortality statistics using equations developed by epidemiologists.

Note: Gordian HRA runs on a 32-bit operating system and is only visible in the application when SYSTOC is running on a 32-bit operating system. It is not supported in the UL Hosted environment.

The HRA version included in SYSTOC was developed by Onlife Health, Inc. (formerly Gordian Health Solutions, Inc.). The assessment does not tell how long you will live, nor does it diagnose disease; it simply provides a way to compare individual risk factors to large groups of people on whom medical data has been collected. Based on this information, it is possible to project how much longer a person could possibly live if that person modified particular behaviors.

Survey results should be interpreted with caution for several reasons. First, all projections are only estimates. The HRA is able to assess a few of the better known health risks, but not all of them. Second, there is no certainty that the numbers developed from a large database actually apply to all individuals. Third, there is no way to account for unknown future events, such as medical advances, wars, etc.

HRAs can be useful in encouraging individuals to adopt positive lifestyle behaviors. They do this by helping people decide which controllable risk factors they should concentrate on changing by indicating the number of risk years that could be gained by controlling such factors.

HRA data is entered manually into SYSTOC or using a kiosk-enabled Health Risk Analysis PDF form that is attached to an order. A printable PDF version of the Health Risk Analysis (HRA) survey is available on the Customer Resource Center: http://ul.custhelp.com (login required).
