OSHA Toxins
The OSHA Toxins screen stores OSHA and NIOSH screening requirements.
OSHA has current toxin surveillance/exposure information on OSHA's Hazardous and Toxic Substances web site. If you are researching a specific chemical, access OSHA’s Occupational Chemicals Database. If you don’t have Internet access at work, you can purchase material directly from OSHA.
- Critical information about a toxin is stored in the F3 memo attached to the OSHA Toxins file.
- OSHA regulations are federal. Your state may have different standards.
- When work on a particular job exposes a person to toxic substances, add the OSHA Toxin IDs to the job rating. This step ensures that the toxins will appear on Job Description reports, so your physician will be aware of them in injury and pre-placement situations.
