Location-Sensitive Reports

Most reports will filter the data by location if the clinic has more than one location and the table being used has a Location ID.

Note that this is not the same as sorting/grouping by Location ID, which is independent of location sensitivity. Even for files that do not have the Location ID field, you can still set a Location ID on the report screen to control the clinic name in the report header.

If you use Locations to separate data, not to keep data private, you can blank the defaulted Location ID in a report to see all locations. If you use Locations to provide privacy, you will not be able to blank the Location ID on the report. In the case of such non-sharing, the only way to see all location data on one report is to log in as a user who has a blank Location ID.

Note: You can inadvertently undermine Location Sensitivity by attaching reports to sections where they do not belong.

For example, if you attach a billing report to the Appointments section, any user with “Not Location Sensitive” access to Appointments will be able to run the billing report for any location, even though that user may not have the right to run the same report from the Billing section.
