Permission Groups

With Permission Groups you can control which sections of SYSTOC can be accessed by any user.

Setting up Permission Groups is a three-step process:
  1. Establish Permission Groups, which store typical access rights.
  2. Define the rights of those groups (see Permission).
  3. Assign a Permission Group to each user (see User Information).

You can have as many Permission Groups as you want, but a few will normally be sufficient. The report SYSTOC Security and Permissions is a useful tool for reviewing existing permission groups, permissions, and user access settings.

Access Permission Groups from Utility > Security > Permission Group > .

SYSTOC is shipped with three predefined Permission Groups:
  • ADMIN, which allows access to all sections of the system (the highest level of security).
  • LEVEL1, which allows individuals to modify, but not delete, information at various levels within the system. You must assign all remote users to a permission group that gives them “view only” access to SYSTOC data.
  • All iSYSTOC E.R. users should be given a Permission Group of NORIGHTS.
You can assign iSYSTOC users the standard Permission Group of iSYSTOC, which provides full view access to the information permitted by the assigned filter, or create your own permission groups by copying the iSYSTOC group and adding even more access restrictions.

For more information on iSYSTOC, see the iSYSTOC Setup/Installation guide.

Note: If you need to create a new group, use Copy from the existing group that is closest to your needs. Be sure to also copy the subordinate records. Give the group a new name, save it, and then edit the specific access rights as desired.
