Security

This option allows you to set access rules and monitor the use of SYSTOC. Access to this section will be denied to those with insufficient security rights.

Access from the Outline menu, select Utility > Security. For new installations, the initial logon (OHR) and password (SYSTOC) will provide access. This logon and password should be removed after the clinic security is properly established.

It is important to remember that access to SYSTOC itself is only a portion of the security. The security of the network itself, and of the MSSQL databases, is even more important. Clinic managers should talk with their local IT department to learn about network and database-level security systems.

SYSTOC provides the following security features:
  • Set permission groups and individual screen and function level access rights
  • Validate passwords to ensure they satisfy a minimum difficulty level set by the clinic
  • Force the change of passwords at an interval set by the clinic
  • Lock a user out after five failed attempts to provide the correct password
  • Force or permit the change of any individual’s password at any time
  • See when a user has attempted but failed to gain access to SYSTOC
  • Review the date and time that each user accessed and exited SYSTOC
  • Prevent reusing any password that was used within the past five iterations
Note: For proper security and to avoid inconveniencing other users, network users should always exit from and save any data entry screen or form before leaving their desks. Press F11 to temporarily log out of SYSTOC and minimize the screen.
