Operation

This topic guides you through the Bulk Change ID process.

Work with the files one at a time, choosing the action you want SYSTOC to perform. Each file must be validated before you can run the change ID process. After selecting a file, click Validate Files. If the validation is successful, you will see a screen similar to the one below.

An unsuccessful validation might report problems such as a merge. The Bulk Change ID utility cannot handle merging records. If the validation detects that one of the new IDs already exists, that would create a merge situation and the utility will be unable to handle the file. Solve this by removing any IDs that would create a merge from the spreadsheet, and work on those by hand after the utility has handled the rest of the file.

As you work, changes to one file can adversely affect subsequent changes. That is why we recommend changing the Jobs file first, then the Department file, and finally the Company file. If you forget and change the Company first, you’ll have to be sure that the CID in the Jobs and Departments spreadsheets is the new ID, not the old one, because the old one will already have been changed.

After your file is successfully validated, click the Run the Change IDs button to proceed. When the first file is done, check in SYSTOC to verify that the change you expected is there, then proceed to the next file, if any, in the same manner.

Currently Company, Department and Jobs are the only tables supported by the utility. If you have need for additional tables, they might be able to be included in the future. Please contact Customer Support at 844.881.8713 to make your request.
