Classic vs. Line Item Analysis

There are two basic types of analysis: Classic and Line Item. The Classic analysis model selects records with all fee types (A, C, or R) and applies the net amount for each type to the invoice. In this analysis, there is no defined relationship between the receipts or adjustments and a specific charge.

The Standard Invoice and Analysis Of Invoices reports offer you choices in the type of analysis, the level of detail, and the overall appearance of the reports.

The Line Item analysis selects only records with a fee type of C for Charges, and receipts and adjustments are matched to the selected charges. Entry and service dates are irrelevant for receipt- and adjustment-type fees, and a receipt or adjustment appears only if it applies to a selected charge item. The Line Item analysis allows you to monitor transactions (receipts and adjustments) made against a corresponding charge and target outstanding balances and the specific charges that comprise them.

With either type of analysis it is important (and good practice) to reconcile all account activity before printing invoices or analyzing data. Especially with Line Item analysis, failure to reconcile is likely to be troublesome because SYSTOC attempts to match receipts and adjustments to an applicable charge, and data that have not been reconciled will not appear.
