Billing

The Billing module and SYSTOC_EDI are designed to meet the special needs of healthcare providers. You can record your fees and the insurance coverage for your clients, then create and process invoices. Once processed, print and send the bills yourself, or use the optional SYSTOC_EDI program to send the invoices electronically to a clearinghouse.

A simpler Tracking Charges method is available for clinics that do not need to send out numbered invoices, but need to track direct and indirect revenue generated by the clinic.

Proper implementation of the Billing module requires thoughtful analysis of your needs and careful planning and setup of fee codes and accounts. Both Invoicing and Tracking use a number of the files in File Maintenance. That section of the help discusses these files in more detail. This Billing section will help you see how all the files work together to form an integrated system.

The clinic administrator should carefully examine Billing (Invoicing) Compared to Tracking Charges before deciding whether to use the Invoicing or Tracking method. Both can be used, if necessary, but it is less convenient because you have to select the one you want each time you prepare an invoice.
