Using Lab Test/Misc for Physicals

The Lab function of SYSTOC is used to record the results of various types of company physicals such as pre-placement, annual, and fitness for duty exams. Once recorded in Lab Test/Misc, the results will print on the Lab Results Letter report.

To prepare for this, you should create prototype tasks and procedures for typical physicals, such as pre-placement, federal, executive, etc. See Recommended Task Prototypes and the following, for more information.

When the appointment for a company pre-placement physical is made, attach the procedure for the specific type of physical that is to be performed. This will create orders for all the component tasks. The order data entry for the pre-placement physical exam itself is a simple matter of typing Pass, Fail, or Accommodation in the Results field. If using Fail or Accommodation, enter the reason why the person fails or an appropriate accommodation in the F3 memo. The Lab Results Letter can be specified to print the contents of the Results field and/or the F3 memo.

In SYSTOC version 7.2 and higher, you can also use PDF forms for physicals. You may also wish to continue to make a Lab Test/Misc record for each physical if you wish to be able to print reports that consolidate such activity for the client company. Most forms for physicals cannot easily be translated into a Lab Test/Misc record without human intervention. The process can be handled simply by setting the task prototype for the physical so that there is a data entry step, and making the work flow process include that step. See Task Prototype Quick Guide for more information.
