Assigning Work Groups or Owners

It speeds the work flow if the order already contains all the steps that the clinic manager can predict, appropriately assigned to the correct group or individual.

In general, it is better to specify a Work Group than a particular Owner. That way, anyone in the group can pick up the order to work on it. If you enter a specific person as an owner, and that person is away, no one else will see the order in the Chart Box when they look for work that needs to be finished.

However, if you must use the Default Owner, you can improve flexibility somewhat by entering {Sch.ID} and {DoneBy} in the field, instead of actual IDs, to indicate the person for whom the order is scheduled, or who actually did it, respectively.

Note: If you use {Sch. ID} instead of an actual provider ID, each treating provider must have a column in the appointment schedule, you cannot schedule a "room."
