Setup - Orders

Orders are the backbone of SYSTOC. They begin life as task prototypes, which define the standard way to do specific office work, such as an immunization, a DOT physical, a chest X-ray, etc.

Task prototypes can be grouped together into procedures. The procedure description represents a reason for a clinic visit, such as the first immunization for Hepatitis B. The Initial Hepatitis B procedure might require a consent form, the vaccine, and the inoculation. Each of these components is defined as a separate task prototype and becomes a separate order when the procedure is applied to a patient's appointment.

Procedures can be customized for any company that wants visits handled in a specific way. For example, a company might want a drug test done automatically whenever an injured employee comes to the clinic.

Proper setup of task prototypes reduces data entry time, enforces clinic and company preferences, and simplifies charge entry. In the File Maintenance > Setup - Orders section, you have the tools to build specific task prototypes and create comprehensive general procedures. You can then build company-specific procedures to handle individual company preferences.

Note: Proper setup of prototypes and procedures is the most important step leading to success with SYSTOC.
