Discounts for WC Self-Insured Companies

By design, SYSTOC does not give a discount on a Workers' Comp claim unless the insurance plan on the invoice has a discount. If the WC bill is routed to the company via the Bill Address field, a discount will not be applied, even if the company record specifies a discount. This design is due to the fact many companies want to see WC bills first, then send them on to the insurance company themselves. In this situation, the insurer will pay the bill, not the client company, so applying the company's discount would be incorrect.

If you want to give a discount to a self-insured company that pays its own WC invoices, create a Benefit Organization with the ID of SELFPAY. Group all the Benefit Plans for companies that use the self-pay approach under that Benefit Organization. Apply a discount percent or table to each selfpay plan, then use that insurance plan ID in the workers' comp part of the Account information, so that the plan will be the responsible party for workers' compensation invoices for the company.

For example, DEXELL is self-insured for workers' comp and you want to give them a 10% discount on their WC bills. Using the Benefit Org ID of SELFPAY , create a benefit Plan ID such as DEXELL-WC , specifying Dexell's accounts' payable address and a Discount % of 10.00 . Then make DEXELL-WC the Plan ID for the workers' comp portion of the account. This will apply the discount to any WC bill for that company.
