About Billing Addresses

  • The billing address identification consists of three parts: Type, ID, and Dept.
  • When using a billing address on another screen, the Type ID limits the ID codes in the list. For example, if you choose a Company ID type (CO), you will only see companies in the ID field.
  • You can have one billing address per organization, except for Company Departments, which can have one billing address per department.
  • Entering an email address and password here provides a way to send PDF records by encrypted email to the specified contact, see Staple and Send Charts.
Note: The password should be a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers, punctuation or special characters (symbols), no longer than 10 characters in length. Using a combination of characters makes your password more secure. An example password: F@1rGen!.
  • Creative use of billing addresses can improve efficiency. For example, place a billing address on a task in a company-specific procedure. When doing drug “collection only” the billing address for the collection task could be the laboratory’s address rather than the company’s, since typically the laboratory pays for the collection service.
  • There is no billing address for patients. If a patient’s self-pay bill needs to go to a different address, it is usually because there is a guarantor. Store the Guarantor ID on the Patient Summary screen, and the guarantor’s own address in his/her own patient record. If there is an alternate subscriber for insurance, the Alternate Subscriber ID is specified on the Patient Account screen.
