Changing IDs Quick Guide
Steps to change IDs
- Display the record you want to change, then under the Special menu select Change ID.
-
In the Change ID window, confirm
that the Old Values section displays the data you want to change. Type the
desired change in the
New Values
section. The number of fields displayed will vary, depending on the number of
values that can be changed on that particular screen. When finished, select
OK
(Alt+O).
- If the new values are not currently used in SYSTOC, the changes will be made automatically. Table names flash on screen as this happens; when this information disappears, the process is done.
- If the new values are currently used in SYSTOC, the system asks if you want to merge IDs. Select Yes (Alt+Y) to continue or No (Alt+N) to cancel. See Merging IDs for instructions. It is best not to continue until you have studied the situation in more depth, prepared printouts, etc.
- Information contained in memos will not be changed, and will require manual editing if corrections are needed. For example, if the memo mentions the patient's ID number and you change the ID, the memo will retain the old ID.
-
If you see the message “Change ID
not valid for this table,” it means you cannot change IDs from this data
screen. This happens in areas such as Task Groups and Recall Series, under
Setup-Orders. It may still be possible to make changes using the Copy command.
For example, to change Master and Subgroup names, follow these steps:
- Under Task Groups, display the Master/Subgroup combination you want to rename.
- Copy (Ctrl+O) the record. When asked whether to copy subordinates, be sure to say Yes.
- You will see a message about making your changes. Change the wording of the Master and Subgroup fields as desired and Save (Alt+S).
- Display the original Master/Subgroup combination and Delete (Ctrl+D) it.
