Standard Invoices

This topic explains the differences between the Standard Invoice appearance variations.

On the report-specification screen for the Standard Invoice, you will find the Classic vs. Line Item alternatives under the specification called Invoice Appearance?. There are two options for the Line Item invoice: Line Item, which filters out charges that have been paid in full; and Line Item All, which includes transactions for all charge records. There are also three options for the Classic invoice: Classic 1, which lists charge detail, but shows only summary information (subtotals) for receipt and adjustment activity; Classic 2, which lists charge and adjustment detail, but shows only summary information for receipt activity; and Classic 3, which lists detail information for all fee types.

For the Standard Invoice, the option you choose will affect primarily the level of detail included in the invoice and its overall appearance. The Line Item invoice not only includes the most detailed information, by displaying receipt and adjustment information applied to specific charges, but also provides the most space-efficient version of the report. Classic-style invoices may contain detail information, but provide summary information for a snapshot of the bottom line. You should explore the various alternatives to determine the best way to communicate with your clients.
