Installation and remote access: For installation of SYSTOC, please ensure that you have Internet Explorer 5.5 or later and Java Runtime Environment installed on one workstation on your network for our remote access, support, training, and maintenance. Please supply a high-speed Internet connection.

Printers: Any Windows-compatible printer is acceptable for general use and label printing. Dot matrix printers cannot be used to print individual labels.

Network server: Network requirements vary greatly depending on the kind of network, number of users, and volume of stored data. SYSTOC has been tested most thoroughly on a Windows 2000 network. Because of the complexity of establishing a network, we recommend that you seek expert assistance. We will gladly discuss SYSTOC requirements with your consultant.

Database server: SYSTOC requires a Microsoft SQL database server, and you must obtain your MSSQL licenses through another vendor. We strongly recommend that you hire or contract a certified Microsoft Database Administrator (DBA). MSDE is an option for small facilities.

Backup: A comprehensive backup system is imperative. We recommend using LTO/DLT or DAT tape devices. Full backups, not incremental backups, should always be made, with a system for verifying data integrity regularly.

EMR concerns: In a paperless environment, redundancy and backup power capabilities are highly recommended. Storage capacity needs in the Electronic Medical Record environment are dramatically higher. For tablet PCs, high speed is critically important, as well as backup batteries. You may also need to consider Wireless Access Points and electronic signature hardware.
