The Joint Commission Teams Up with UCAOA

[Posted 10/16/2008] The Joint Commission and the Urgent Care Association of America (UCAOA) are partnering in providing quality standards for the nation’s urgent care centers. UCAOA will discontinue its accreditation program and will collaborate with The Joint Commission on developing standards specific to urgent care.

There are approximately 8,000 urgent care centers in the US, and the new accreditation process will enhance patient care and treatment accountability. Urgent care centers handle a wide range of illnesses and injuries, such as allergies, colds, sprains, and fractures.
