The US Government Accountability Office (GAO) has been
charged with investigating recent issues with
collection site regulation compliance, weaknesses in
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) oversight and ideas for improvement,
enforcement issues, and the benefits of different
types of testing for use by mandated companies.
The Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry Association (DATIA) and its Board have had many discussions with
the GAO to provide comprehensive information on the
above issues.
Congressman Oberstar’s Oversight and Investigations
Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure will
hold a hearing to discuss issues surrounding drug
and alcohol testing of commercial motor vehicle
drivers on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 10:00 a.m.
in the House Office Building, Room 2167. DATIA will
be providing written testimony to the committee. We
encourage members to submit testimony as well.
Written testimony will be accepted through November
14, 2007 and should be submitted to Leila Kahn at leila.kahn@mail.house.gov.
