OSHA Releases Combustible Dust Fact Sheet

[Posted 03/20/2008] An OSHA Hazard Alert designed to help prevent combustible dust explosions is now available at www.OSHA.gov. It explains the nature of this hazard, including how dust explosions occur and how they may cause secondary explosions, which are potentially more dangerous than the primary blast. It also indicates which industries are at risk and gives a number of prevention and control recommendations, as well as some of the applicable OSHA requirements and additional resources. This is one in a series of informational fact sheets highlighting OSHA programs, policies or standards and does not impose any new compliance requirements.
