Promoting Flu
Vaccination of Healthcare Workers
[Posted 06/25/2009]
Influenza obviously poses a personal health risk,
but in the case of healthcare workers, it also poses
risks to vulnerable patients. Despite these worries,
vaccination rates of healthcare workers still remain
low.
In collaboration with other infection-control
organizations, the Joint Commission has released a
free monograph on strategies to promote flu
vaccination of healthcare workers. Providing a
Safer Environment for Health Care Personnel and
Patients through Influenza Vaccination: Strategies
from Research and Practice offers an overview of
evidence-based guidelines, research studies, and
regulatory efforts, as well as accreditation
concerns.
