CMS: Quality Reporting Can Reap Monetary Rewards

[Posted 07/22/2008] The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) awarded $36 million in bonus payments to healthcare professionals in 2007 under the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI). The average amount awarded to individual providers was $600, with some physician group practices being awarded several thousands of dollars.

Its not too late for your practice to participate. CMS has made it easier for professionals to submit their quality measures for covered services provided to Medicare beneficiaries. Incentives earned in 2008 will be awarded in mid-2009. Learn more about the goals of this program and how to participate at the CMS PQRI webpage: http://www.cms.hhs.gov/PQRI.
