Is Employer Involvement in Employee Healthcare Misplaced?

[Posted 04/07/2008] According to a survey of more than 500 companies by Hewitt Associates, a larger number of employers (88%, up from 63% last year) plan to make investments aimed at improving workplace health and productivity over the next three to five years. Almost two-thirds (63%) of employers indicated they plan to offer incentives to motivate sustained healthcare behavior change.

But according to a separate Hewitt survey of 30,000 employees, only 12% said they believe companies have a role in helping them understand how to stay healthy. However, almost three-quarters (74%) of those surveyed think employers are responsible for helping them understand how to use their health plan.
