EPA: Lead–Safe Certification Deadline Pushed Back
[Posted 6/21/10] Due to overwhelming demand for training and classroom space, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has extended the lead–abatement requirement to the end of this year.
Anyone who receives compensation for renovating, repairing and painting work on a home built before 1978 must be enrolled in a class by September 30, 2010 and be certified by December 31, 2010. As part of the lead Renovation, Repair and Painting rule, failure to produce proof of training can result in fines up to $37,500 per violation per day.
